'Don't be Evil' was the simple slogan that Google used in its early days as the basis for all of its actions. Initially, it felt as though the company was different and genuinely aiming to make life better for web users. Inevitably, the commercial pressures a company the size of Google faces means it has had to bring in huge profits to keep innovating and providing the experience that users expect. This has led to something of a backlash over recent years, with Google's attitude to privacy facing heavy criticism.
